About the Author

Lea Scholey is an audiophile with an insatiable love for books. Her passion for storytelling was ignited at an early age by Jack London's The Call of the Wild, a novel that sparked her deep appreciation for literature - a flame that still burns bright today.

Having spent most of her adult life working in the charity and non-profit sectors, Lea is a firm believer in giving back to the community and using her privilege to amplify the voices of others. Her passion for advocacy and storytelling has long intertwined, leading her to explore themes of power, resilience, and identity in her writing.

Over the years, Lea has penned numerous short stories as a way to navigate mental health challenges. Now, she has embarked on an exciting new adventure: her debut novel, Riftfall. When asked what finally gave her the courage to write a full-length novel, she shared:

Riftfall has been a lifelong passion waiting to emerge. Women should be celebrated for their strengths, and Rae is one of those women. She is a character close to my heart, reflecting parts of myself as well as the incredible women who inspire me.”

Lea credits much of her motivation to the queer community, whose encouragement helped her take the leap into publishing. With the unwavering support of her childhood friend Nikki, she transitioned from outlining ideas to bringing them to life on paper. She teased that this may not be a standalone novel but has yet to confirm, stating that much will depend on readers and their appetite for more.

Rae, the novel’s protagonist, is a queer hospital worker navigating love and loss in a world where survival is uncertain. Will she make it back home? We’ll have to wait and see.

Lea is currently hard at work on the first draft of Riftfall, with plans to release the novel in late 2025 or early 2026.

This is me

I’m a neurodivergent, pansexual author and artist who thrives on creativity. I came out in my 30s, and my journey of self-discovery has deeply influenced both my writing and art. I’ve been telling stories since childhood, using fiction as a way to navigate a world that often feels like it wasn’t built for me. A few years ago, I picked up digital art and wood whittling to manage my mental health, and it quickly became another outlet for self-expression. Whether through words or visuals, I love crafting worlds where emotions can be explored, identities can be celebrated, and stories can offer solace. When I’m not lost in creative projects, you’ll find me adventuring with my mischievous ginger spaniel.
